People are beginning to learn how to go green in many areas of their life not just the most obvious places. People are beginning to experiment with less traditional hair care routines to see how they can go more green here also.

Shampoo bars are becoming much more popular.  These are often times home made and can be found onine and in health food stores. Please note that these are not just your average bar of soap. A lot of care is put into creating a shampoo bar that will nourish hair. Combinations of different oils are added and lye is used to create the saponified soap.  Believe it or not these bars of soap are incredibly mild.  There are a lot of oils that are left unsaponified that help to condition your hair and scalp.

These bars are sulfate and sulfite free and some people find that their hair is much healthier without these chemicals. If you live in an area that has soft water, you may find these to be great for your hair. People who suffer with hard water may have to do a herbal tea rinse after they wash their hair to remove any soap residue caused by the hard water.

Henna is also becomming more common place. If you like the color red, henna may be for you.  When you use henna you get a red tint to your natural hair color. This is extremely permanent and basically you will have to cut your hair to get rid of it once it is on. The color of henna on hair can range from orange red to red burgandy depending on the original color of your hair. As you continue to dye your hair with henna it becomes richer and darker in color. People that have wild curly hair have reported that their curls have relaxed a bit once they used henna.  And another constant comment was how much their hair shined.

Red is the only color henna is capabe of dying.  If you see a package claiming to be brown or black henna don’t purchase it. There is a problem that many of us deal with, whether we want to admit it or not. Deny it though we might, try to hide it though we might, it is still there. It makes us feel self-conscious and even uncomfortable at times. It is belly fat, and we don’t know how to get rid of it! If this is the case for you, do not worry – you are not alone. In fact, it is a widespread problem due specifically to the fact that so many people have no clue how to get rid of it. You might be in what seems to be a losing battle with belly fat, but you can turn things around by following these tips.

First off, losing that belly fat takes more than healthy eating; it also takes exercise. This does not just mean stomach exercises, either; you have to get your cardiovascular system going by doing aerobic workouts. You can get your metabolism going by jogging, walking, bicycling, or swimming three or four days a week. If you want to shed that pesky flab, this is absolutely vital.

Are your kids struggling with dealing with stress? Are you unsure how to assist your child as he or she deals with anxiety? Try the following activities to help your child learn how to deal with stressful situations.

Teach him to go for a walk. One of the most powerful stress-busters for kids is to teach them to walk away from the situation and physically deal with the impact of stress. No doubt your kid is feeling a rush of adrenaline–the fight or flight response. Teach your child to walk away; this alone is an empowering act because it teaches your child to physically remove himself from the situation. Then teach your child to walk or run until he feels better. The beautiful thing about teaching your child to use physical activity as a stress management tool is that it is an appropriate response for many childhood experiences (on the playground, at home, in gym class).

Teach your child how to express and deal with stress through the use of art. A lot of kids can’t talk about stress, but they can express themselves in pictures. Give your child some art supplies and do some art together such a “emotional painting”, where you paint a picture that depicts how you feel at the moment. Let your child go in whatever direction she feels led, without telling her how to do it. You might led by example and draw a cartoon strip about something that evokes emotion in you. Make sure your child knows you are available to talk, but don’t push it.

Help your child learn the therapeutic power of the written word. Again, when kids are stressed, they may not be able to express themselves verbally, but they may benefit from writing. Dedicate a journal to communication between you and your child; write notes to each other in it each day. Use the journal anytime you notice your child seeming especially stressed out, jotting him a note asking how he’s doing and asking him to write back to you. Use the journal to promote healthy venting and communication. Use humor when appropriate, and investigate solutions through the shared notes.

Parenting in a stressful situation is difficult, but take solace in the fact that you are teaching your child coping skills that will help him forever.

When you have decided to work out, it will usually have been with one of two specific goals in mind. the first aim of working out is to help you tone your muscles and lose weight; the second aim many people have is to build muscle mass through their workouts. You need to make sure you know how to accomplish your desired goal, regardless of which of these your desired goal happens to be! This is especially the case when it comest to trying to build muscle mass, as you will certainly be upset and annoyed if you are working out constantly to build muscle mass – only to find that you are not building muscle mass at all.

In order to understand how to build muscle mass when working out, it is good to first understand what happens when you work out.

The way that working out works is by tearing your muscles; when you work out, you tear the muscles in your body just a little bit. Your body starts to go to work trying to repair these small tears in your muscles as soon as your workout has finished. If you work out the same muscles the next day, in the same way, you will tear these same areas in your muscles again, and your body will keep trying to repair the tears afterward. In this way, your muscles will begin to tighten, as they continually work to repair themselves. On the other hand, your muscles will have the time to repair themselves completely if you wait a day or two before giving these same muscles another workout. Your muscles will continue to grow larger as you continue to work out like this, as they will keep being able to repair themselves completely in between each workout.

As you see, if you want to build muscle mass, the basic approach is really as simple as just giving a group of muscles a day or two off in between each workout you give them. And make sure you put some protein into your body immediately after your workout if you want to build muscle more quickly. And as time passes, you can watch your muscles grow and grow.

When you are looking for a snack in the middle of the morning, or during a relaxing afternoon at home, bagels are always a great fallback, but as wonderful as bagels are, there are many people who fail to get as much out of their bagels as they should, because they limit their thinking when it comes to preparing bagels.

Of course, the standard approach to making bagels is to slap some butter or some cream cheese onto them after they come out of the toaster – but not only is this an unhealthy way for you to enjoy your bagels, but it might also be one of the less delicious ways also!

A peanut butter and jelly sandwich on two pieces of bread is a perfectly adequate sandwich, but most people never think about making a peanut butter and jelly sandwich using a bagel; with a sesame seed bagel or an everything bagel, you will have a nice compliment of flavor to your peanut butter and jelly – and in fact, peanut butter and/or jelly alone tastes great on these bagels as well!

When you are packing a sandwich to take with you to work (or on more pleasant days, to take with you on a picnic), a bagel is also a great base; simply prepare your sandwich the way you normally would, but use a bagel instead of using regular bread!

And of course, it is tough to beat a breakfast sandwich that uses a bagel as the base; toast your bagel until it is nice and crisp, then add a fried egg with some cheese (and even with a bit of meat – such as sausage or ham), and you will have a delicious breakfast sandwich to start your day rolling in the right direction!

Once you start to get creative with your bagels, you will be able to truly get the most out of them – as they will go from being a food that is simply “good” to being something you are able to truly love!

Parents should strive to teach their children a healthy life style. Children are like monkeys, as they will copy anything their parents do. It can be harder to get a child interested in a sport as they age so it is best to introduce activity when they are young.
